Family business with tradition.

We are a family business founded in 1991 by Mr. Miroslav and Mrs. Věra Patočka.

The Patočka family started building our company in the Czech Republic immediately after the revolution in the 1990s.

Miroslav Patočka, the founder of Luminex, is a native of Prague, and the blood of a businessman has flowed through his veins since his early days.

In order for you to properly understand who we are and what values we represent, we must go back to the beginning of the story, the life of a little boy who followed his dreams.

At the age of twenty-one, the inexperienced young Miroslav Patočka emigrated to west Germany. Starting out in a new country without any language skills was not easy.

Night shifts and daily learning - that was the daily bread of young Miroslav Patočka.

Despite all the obstacles, he graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Rosenheim (Germany).

However, his journey does not end there. While studying at a German university, he applied and was one of the first to be selected for an Erasmus exchange in England. While still a student, he founded the company MP Leuchten in Germany in 1987, which still exists today.

This could have been the end of our story, but thanks to the fall of socialism in the Czech Republic in 1989, the business journey continues in another country close to our founder.

The Czech Republic has always been close to his heart and that is why he founded the company in Prague in 1991. At first we produced and sold our lighting and furniture. Production was then located in České Budějovice, where it was eventually discontinued and our company focused only on distribution. Today we have over 30,000 products in our range, and our owners put together the assortments with the main buyers of the largest chains in Europe and operate internationally in Germany, Austria, Slovakia,Dubai and even on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean in the US.

Despite the rocky road our company has taken, we are proudly to be the oldest family business (distribution) on the market in our industry.

The company is already in the hands of the next generation, in the hands of the owner's son, Dominik Patočka, who is slowly but surely following in his father's footsteps.
