We are a family business founded in 1991 by Miroslav and Věra Patočka. The Patočka family began building our company in the Czech Republic immediately after the revolution in the 1990s.

Miroslav Patočka, the founder of Luminex, was born in Prague and has been a businessman at heart since he was a child. To help you understand who we are and what values we represent, we need to go back to the beginning of the story, to the life of a little boy who followed his dreams. We have to go back to the beginning of the story, to the life of a little boy who followed his dreams. At the age of twenty-one, the then inexperienced young Miroslav Patocka emigrated to what was then East Germany. Starting out in a new country without any knowledge of the language was not easy. Night shifts and daily study – that was the daily bread of young Miroslav Patočka. Despite all the obstacles, he completed his studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Rossenheim (Germany). However, his journey did not end there. While studying at a German university, he applied and was one of the first to be selected for an Erasmus exchange program in England and Wales. While still a student, he founded the company MP Leuchten in Germany in 1987, which still exists today. This could have been the end of our story, but thanks to the fall of socialism in the Czech Republic in 1989, the business journey continues in another country close to our founder. The Czech Republic had always been close to his heart, which is why he founded the company in Prague in 1991. Initially, we manufactured and sold lighting fixtures and furniture. Production was located in České Budějovice at the time, where it was eventually discontinued and our company focused solely on sales. Today, we have over 30,000 products in our range, and our owners compile the range with the main customers of the largest chains in Europe and operate internationally in Germany, Austria, Slovakia, the Far East, Dubai, and even across the pond in the USA. Despite the rocky road our company has traveled, we are proud to be one of the few family-owned companies on the market. The company is already in the hands of the next generation, in the hands of the owner's son, Dominik Patočka, who is slowly but surely following in his father's footsteps.
